This week in mining is all about new projects, such as Sonora Lithium, but also emblematic ones, like Naica. In between, the eight biggest silver mines in development in the country are highlighted. Deep-sea mining continues to advance in Mexico, as do its subsequent controversies. And speaking of controversy, Trump announced he will continue allowing formerly protected land to be concessioned to extractive industries.

 

The mining industry is increasingly interested in higher safety standards, but what happens in the case of a spill? This week, Mexico Mining Review spoke to Arturo Rodriguez, Assistant Attorney General for Industrial Inspection at PROFEPA to ask how environmentally-conscious miners are.
