The countdown has officially begun for PDAC International Convention, Trade Show & Investors 2018, the world’s premier mining investment convention and trade show where over 10,000 exhibitors, 3,800 investors and 24,000 attendees from over 130 countries unite under one roof from March 4 to March 7 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
As Lisa McDonald, Interim Director of PDAC stated in the event’s website, “people come here to learn about the latest issues that are impacting the industry, new trends on technology and the unrivaled networking opportunities that we offer.” This year’s program covers a wide variety of topics and activities from technical presentations to CSR event series and finance programs. PDAC also includes attractions such as Virtual Reality experiences in open pit and underground mine developments in 3D. Short courses will be offered as well such as “What the North American mining professional needs to know about working in a Latin American country: Managing expectations and avoiding legal pitfalls.”
Expectations are high for Mexico Mining Day this year as presidential elections are around the corner and advances on previous promises and agreements must be shared. Last year, during the seventh edition of Mexico Mining Day, the Guerrero Mining Cluster signed an MoU with SAMSSA, an association based in the city of Sudbury in Canada. “The letter of intent was signed at PDAC 2017 and will be supported by the development of a regional industrial park that will serve as a landing space in Iguala to bring to Mexico companies from Sudbury and other parts of the world,” said Alfredo Phillips, President of the Guerrero Mining Cluster and Corporate Affairs Director of Torex Gold.
